2021 FinalAnother season is in the books. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. It is our pleasure to help feed you and you are the reason we continue with our calling. The season was not without challenges and it always seems to revolve around the weather. The farmer's mantra: “there is always next year.” Thank you for your patience and understanding when things didn’t grow right and the mood of the farmer was not the best:) Without a doubt, the best part of this season was seeing you in person and for the most part without a mask on. A smile goes a long way and it was nice to see yours. We have every intention of continuing our production next season and God willing we will see you in the beautiful green spring when the asparagus makes its appearance. Until then have a blessed holiday season and stay brave, healthy and strong. GREEN BARN FARM MARKET Feel free to leave a comment below, or contact us with any questions! TomatoesNow is the time to do your canning and preserving of tomatoes! The extreme weather has made all the tomatoes ripen at the same time so the season will be short but very sweet! We will have tomatoes available at all of the farmers markets we attend and we have an order book every day at our daily corn stand in Ripon. All of your salsa, sauce and juice will taste sensational in winter! It was hard to decide whether to label this update tomatoes or cantaloupe. The cantaloupe are ready, ripe and delicious and like the tomatoes, they will not be around for long. Make sure to pick yours up today! The farm is at its height of summer production right now and the variety is amazing. The market tables are full of fresh goodness and every color of the rainbow. Eating healthy has never been easier and we hope to see you at one of our many locations! Stay healthy, brave and strong. Everything under the SunThe dog days of summer are upon us but that means the great days of farm fresh vegetables are here. Everything you need to make that great summertime meal: sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and more! Despite the exciting and unpredictable weather we continue to have an abundant harvest. Our daily corn stand in Ripon is up and running and we continue to be at the Madison(also Wednesday), Green Bay and Fond du Lac farmers markets on Saturdays. Inquiring minds want to know when the canning tomatoes and cantaloupe will be available. Watch for the tomatoes starting the week of August 15th and the cantaloupe the following week. We continue to offer our black angus beef products. Currently we have a very good selection with lots of product. Don’t forget we have it at our Ripon corn stand everyday of the week except Saturday. One stop shopping for a healthy, nutritious meal that supports a farm family and your local community. Not much tastes or sounds better than that! The end of this seasons asparagusDespite the crazy weather, things on the farm are looking good. We have started the beloved shelled sweet pea season as the asparagus winds down. Don’t wait too long for asparagus as we are only expecting it for about another week. We saw the first broccoli of the season; spinach, spring mix lettuce and arugula continue to be fresh and delicious. We tied the first cauliflower and the sweet corn is starting to tassel. The field grown tomatoes are staked and little green tomatoes are abundant. Mother Nature keeps marching along and we just try to keep up with her! Our freezer will be full of Black Angus meat this weekend. Super great quality meat at reasonable prices - be sure to check it out. We raise our cattle from birth and also raise all the feed that they eat - taste the difference! The most exciting information in this post is the fact that the Dane County Farmers is once again back on the state capital square on Saturday and at the 200 block of MLK Jr. Blvd on Wednesday. It is so wonderful to see all of your faces and feel your excitement of having in person markets once again! From the bottom of our heart THANK YOU for supporting us through the online ordering season last year. Survival was paramount and you not only helped us achieve that, you helped us flourish. Happy Summer; stay healthy, happy and eat your veggies! GREEN BARN FARM MARKET Feel free to leave a comment below, or contact us with any questions! Here's to a New Year & SeasonWelcome to another season of Wisconsin goodness! The asparagus will make its first appearance on Wednesday, May 12th. We will be opening at the farm location in Ripon and participating in the pick up with the Dane County Farmers Market in Madison. Our freezer is full of Black Angus Beef - be sure to check it out! Ripon store hours starting May 12th will be Monday - Saturday 9-5. Wednesday pick up in Madison is 3-6; pre order with WhatsGood and then drive thru. The WhatsGood store for Wednesday opens Sunday @ 10 a.m. and closes Tuesday @ noon. Starting May 15 we will be participating in the Dane County Farmers market from 7-12(that is walk up) but we will also be on WhatsGood for pre orders for Saturday. The WhatGood store for Saturday opens Wednesday @ 8 a.m. and closes Thursday @ 5 p.m. WHEW! That's a lot of information but we will get the hang of it:) We will also be at the Fond du Lac farmers market (Saturdays from 7-12) starting May 15th - make sure you stop and say hello! Other news from the farm: things are growing despite the chilly temperatures. The first sweet corn, peas, spinach, lettuce and arugula are up and thriving. We have planted 37,000 onion sets, 34,000 broccoli plants, 4000 cauliflower and cabbage plants. Now if someone could just get Mother Nature to turn on the heat lamp everything would be going according to plan. Never a dull moment and we cannot wait to see all of our loyal customers who we consider friends! GREEN BARN FARM MARKET Feel free to leave a comment below, or contact us with any questions! |
