TOMATO SEASON IS HERE!It's hard to think of winter months when you are in the middle of the dog days of summer, but now is the time to put up tomatoes for winter. If you like to make salsa, stewed tomatoes, or just some sauce, we have everything you need. Right now, the tomatoes look great and are coming on strong. We have red round and Roma tomatoes, and there are even some yellow tomatoes available for those who need a little less acid in their diet. Additionally, we have red and yellow onions, green peppers, and jalapeños. We should start to see red bell peppers in another three weeks. It is our professional opinion that the field-grown tomato season will be great but potentially shortened due to the excessive rain, heat, and humidity this season. Also, everything this season is running about two weeks early. So don't procrastinate—get your canning done sooner rather than later. Ask at one of our locations about tomatoes today.
Sweet corn continues to be a delicious treat. We pride ourselves on picking it fresh and delivering it to you as soon as possible. Speaking of delicious treats, the cantaloupe should be ready in another two weeks! Finally, our beef supply has been a little low lately. The processors pause taking local farm animals this time of year so they can accommodate all of the county fair animals and the kids who work so hard at raising them. Our freezers will be full again on August 24th, and we still have ground beef available. Stay happy and healthy, and we hope to see you at one of our many locations!
